Local das correspondências. Aliás, algumas pessoas até hoje escrevem para o endereço da Baker Street. Pensam que Holmes realmente existiu! Isso é reflexo da época do autor. O sucesso da personagem é exemplo de personagem que se sobrepõe ao próprio criador: nem todos conhecem Conan Doyle, mas todos conhecem Holmes. Mesmo na época do autor era assim — e isso o aborrecia um pouco.
